Editorial, design and production services

Robin Brass Studio edits, designs and produces books under contract for other publishers and for organizations that wish to put out a well-designed and professional book but lack in-house expertise in book production.

The services required to produce a well-made book encompass:
  • Editorial: including substantive editing, copy editing, proof-reading, indexing.
  • Design: including basic concept, inside typography, text formatting and layout, adjusting and correcting images for reproduction, cover/jacket design.
  • Production consulting: including coordinating and advising on compatibility and technical suitability of text and image files, advising on optimum format, developing specifications, obtaining and interpreting printers’ quotes, dealing with the printer through the production process.
We can accompany you through the process, working with you to determine format, assisting you in choosing and dealing with a printer, and obtaining on your behalf the ISBN (International Standard Book Number) and CIP (Cataloguing in Publication Data).

It takes experience and attention to a multitude of details to put together a well-made book without making expensive mistakes along the way. We can help you with this.

Final Descent: The Loss of the Flagship Erie
by Robert D. Schweyer
Editing, inside design and production consulting by Robin Brass Studio for the Schweyer family.

When the American Airlines DC-3 Flagship Erie crashed in southwestern Ontario in 1941, it was the worst airline disaster in Canada to that time, and despite numerous enquiries the cause of the crash was never determined. Aviation historian Robert D. Schweyer wrote this excellent account of the disaster and its aftermath but unfortunately died before it could be published. Robin Brass Studio assisted the family to get the book into print. It is available from the Canadian Warplane Heritage Bookstore.
